Eid-al-Fitr Crescent Moon SightingEid-al-Fitr Crescent Moon Sighting

The celebration date of Eid depends on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon. Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar have announced April 10 as the day of Eid. However, in India, Eid al-Fitr 2024 is anticipated to be observed on either April 10 or 11.

Experts suggest that the moon sighting could be influenced by the total solar eclipse. There are reports indicating that the crescent moon might not be visible immediately after the eclipse, potentially postponing the moon sighting until April 9, 2024.

The festival is traditionally celebrated on the day following the sighting of the crescent moon. Eid al-Fitr, also known as Ramadan Eid, signifies the conclusion of the fasting month of Ramadan.
