A non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued against former Karnataka Chief Minister Yediyurappa in connection with a POCSO case. The legal action against Yediyurappa highlights serious charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. This development marks a significant turn in the case, drawing widespread attention to Yediyurappa’s legal challenges.

Yediyurappa was previously summoned for interrogation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is investigating a Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) complaint against him. However, he requested additional time to appear before the CID’s investigating officer. The BJP veteran, who also serves on the party’s parliamentary board, is currently in Delhi. Sources close to him indicate that he is likely to join the probe upon his return.

According to the police, Yediyurappa has been booked under the POCSO Act and Section 354 A (Sexual Harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This follows a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, alleging that Yediyurappa sexually assaulted her daughter during a meeting on February 2 at his residence in Dollars Colony.

On March 14, just hours after the Sadashivanagar police registered the case, Karnataka Director General of Police Alok Mohan ordered an immediate transfer of the investigation to the CID.

The 54-year-old woman who filed the charge against Yediyurappa, passed away last month at a private hospital due to lung cancer. Yediyurappa, 81, has denied the allegations and stated that he intends to fight the case legally.
